i liked small soldiers as a kid, but gremlins has to take the top spot for me.

'Burbs all the way!!! I love Joe Dante. It was Burton, Zemeckis, and him that were the first great film makers I was introduced to as a kid.

PS - I've actually never the Howling, which is weird, considering how it's his second most noted movie before Gremlins. I'm watching it tomorrow.

Let us know what you think -- we've always been generally unimpressed

I'd have to say either the 'burbs, or gremlins 2.

the howling is a bit bland; amusing at best, based on your standards for such a film, if any. toy soldiers comes in as #3 for me.

gremlins 1, I mean. I must've been reading your faves while writing mine.

I'll have to agree with Paul.

"There go the goddamn brownies."

You can't go wrong with a film that has Forrest Gump, Princess Leia, Haven Hamilton, Snik, Teddy Duchamp and Bruce Dern.

Must say, I wasn't a big fan of The Howling. It was pretty cool in some respects and had some new ideas, but to me it felt like it was missing something significant.

And as far as effects go, I mean I love Rob Botin, but he ain't no Rick Baker.

PS Aaron, go out in watch his stuff, trust me my childhood was better because of his movies.
